Women’s Leadership Scholarships
The Women's Leadership Scholarship (WLS) program (formerly the Native Leadership Scholarship) creates educational opportunities for women activists, grassroots leaders, and organizers from the Global South and/or from indigenous groups. WLS invests in women's leadership by supporting non-doctoral graduate education in human rights, sustainable development, and public health in many places around the world. Open Society Institute (OSI)
The Open Society Institute (OSI), a private operating and grant making foundation, aims to shape public policy to promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal, and social reform. On a local level, OSI implements a range of initiatives to support the rule of law, education, public health, and independent media. At the same time, OSI works to build alliances across borders and continents on issues such as combating corruption and rights abuses.
The OSI offers the Supplementary Grant Program–Burma (Myanmar). It is designed to provide additional funds to students enrolled in academic programs in academic programs accredited colleges, universities, and community colleges in Asia leading to a degree (BA, MA, PhD, etc.). Grants are awarded to Burmese students on the basis of academic record, applicant's long-term goals, and financial need. Candidates should not only meet the program criteria, but also be willing and likely to return to Burma to work for the democratic and economic rebirth of the country.

Scholarships for Graduate Students from Neighboring Countries
In order to promote good academic and research relationships with neighboring countries, expand educational opportunities, and continue the ongoing policy of developing the university to a high international standard, the Faculty of Graduate Studies is offering scholarships to graduate students from developing and neighboring Asian countries. Qualifications Applicants must be a national or citizen of a neighboring or developing country, and have been accepted in a graduate program of study in Mahidol University. Value 120,000 THB or 3,530 USD (Exchange rate 1 USD / 34 THB) Application time November to December of each year.

Prospect Burma
Prospect Burma was established in 1989 and its scholarship program was started in 1992 with support from Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's Nobel Peace Prize funds. By funding education for young Burmese, Prospect Burma seeks to help create a cadre of Burmese who will be competent to run the country once democracy returns. Its aim is to educate those who will bring their knowledge and skills back to Burma for its future development. In 2000, it supported 80 students studying in several countries.
Prospect Burma's scholarship programme has expanded over the years and in 2006 Prospect Burma was able to make a record 200 awards to Burmese students studying at universities worldwide.

South-South Exchange Programme for Research on the History of Development
Research Fellowships
The Sephis programme has two sub-themes:
1. Equity, Exclusion and Liberalization.
2. The Forging of Nationhood & The Contest over Citizenship, Ethnicity and History.
These reflect the double range of interest of the programme, directed at both understanding processes of cultural change and developing new visions on development emerging in the South. Sephis will pay special attention to projects that support the elaboration of these themes, which - as it were - reflect the cultural and economic side of the programme.
In 2007, fellowships are available at the Post-Doctoral and PhD level. Funding will be provided for travel and research costs, and salary according to local standards. These fellowships extend from a minimum of three months to a maximum of two years for fellowships at Postdoctoral level and three years for fellowships at PhD level. In addition, Sephis encourages proposals at the interface of history, theory and development practice

Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore
ASEAN Research Scholars 2008
The Asia Research Institute of NUS invites applications from ASEAN citizens enrolled for a fulltime advanced degree at a university in an ASEAN country (except Singapore) for consideration as ASEAN Research Scholars. These fellowships are offered to current graduate students working in the Humanities and Social Sciences on Southeast Asian topics, and will allow the recipients to be based at NUS for an ‘in residence fellowship’ for a period of three months.
The aim of the fellowship is to enable scholars to make full use of the wide range of resources held in the libraries of NUS and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. Scholars will be expected to commence on 1 May 2008, and to make a presentation on their work at the Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies at the end of July 2008. Scholarships for Master’s Degree Student Research Presentations at International Conferences Held Abroad
The Faculty of Graduate Studies will provide scholarships for Master's Degree student research presentations at international conferences held abroad 2 rounds a year. The criteria and methods for scholarship application are as follows: Scholarship is only provided for oral presentations at an international conference. However, the scholarship will be provided for a poster presentation if there are only poster presentations at the conference. Distinguished Thesis Awards
Each year graduate students at Mahidol University produced numbers of theses. Among these theses there are many showing a high quality of research, being published in recognized national or international academic journals and/or acquiring patents. The use of research results has brought benefit and fame to the university. In order to promote the work of the these high quality theses and to be pay homage to the students and advisory committees, the Faculty of Graduate Studies thinks it is appropriate to offer awards for distinguished theses.
