Library Services
The Human Rights Library at CHRSD has been established for more than ten years. It holds an extensive and up-to-date collection of books on human rights and other related fields, and runs on a web-based cataloguing system that is connected with the broader system of Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center. Students of CHRSD enjoy the borrowing privilege at the Human Rights Library as well as other libraries at Mahidol University.
Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center also holds numerous electronics databases, electronic books, audiovisual materials, multimedia viewing equipment and specialized services including online reference service, multi-database searching and document delivery services. Students of CHRSD enjoy the borrowing privilege at the Human Rights Library as well as other libraries.

Membership and Library Card
- The faculty, staff and students must apply for membership to the Central Library . They must use the membership card to borrow library resources available at the Human Rights Resource Center. This card can also be used to borrow books at the Central library and other libraries in the Mahidol system.
1 week for processing new library cards and 3 days for renewal is needed.
- ID cards are issued with barcodes to be used for checking-out books. Individuals must enter that number into library records.
Requirements:
Two photographs (1 X 1 inch) Receipt for current registration fees (only students) Student ID card Completed MULINET membership application form at the Circulation counter, Central Library or Human Rights Resource Center.
- Loss of Card:
Loss of card must be reported to the Circulation Counter at Central Library immediately to prevent unauthorized use of the card. The users are liable for all loans made in their names until a report is made.
A lost library membership card may be replaced at the Loan Service Counter for a fee of 30 Baht . For lost ID cards, please contact the Student Affairs Section, Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Renewal:
Students. Students' library cards are issued every semester. Library cards can be renewed on presentation of a new registration fee receipt together with library cards and ID cards during the specifies time, usually first three weeks of each semester. Faculty. The Library card of full time faculty is issued for one academic year or contract period but part time faculty must renew every semester during the specified time. Staff. The Library card of full time staff is issued for one academic year. Part time staff can not apply for membership.
- Termination:
Membership with the MU Library ceases when members do not renew or lose the library card or ID card.

Circulation
General Loan Rules
MU Library members must produce valid library membership cards when borrowing books. They must check to see that all library books in their possession have been properly issued to them before leaving the library.
- The MU Library members are held responsible for all books charged to their cards.
- The MU Library members may not use the membership cards of other members to borrow books.
- The MU Library members must not lend these books to others.
- The MU Library members will be held responsible for any mutilation found in library materials when returned. The members must check and report any mutilation found before borrowing.
- The MU Library members must return or renew their loans when due.
- The MU Library members must report lost books to the Circulation Counter immediately.
- Overdue book fines will be calculated from the date due to the date the book is returned.
- Some reserved books are not available for loan but may be used in the library.
- MU Library members are responsible for understanding the policies related to any materials that you check out.
- MU Library members are responsible for knowing the date your materials are due and returning /renewing them promptly.
- MU Library members will be held financially responsible for any overdue, lost and damaged item while an item is check out.
- When a borrower owes 50 baht or more, library privileges are suspended without notice until the account is paid in full.

Note that :
- MU Library card needed for borrowing all materials.
- If borrowers owe 50 baht or more, they may not borrow any materials until paid.
- Total materials you can borrow are 10 copies. (Books, monograph, reserved books , and thesis)
Renewals
- A book may be renewed unless it has been reserved by another user.
- All books must be presented for renewal in person.
- Renewals will be accepted until 15 minutes before the library closes.
- A book may be renewed twice, unless it has been reserved by another user.
- Some types of materials will never be renewed, including:
5.1 Materials recalled or reserved by someone else. 5.2 Materials whose loan policies do not allow renewal, such as reserved reading, or materials checked out by special permission.

Fines for Overdue Materials
- Fines are charged on overdue materials. No fine will be charged for the days when the library is closed.
- All fines must be paid before the end of the semester in which they are owed.
- Fines are the responsibility of the borrower regardless of absence, vacation, illness or lack of notification.
- Failure to pay fines will result in suspension of salary of faculty/ staff.
- Failure to pay fines will result in revocation of all privileges for students.
- For MU members, if you have overdue materials, we will send an overdue notice to the head of your academic affairs and the library at your faculty.

BORROWERS' RESPONSIBILITIES
Borrowers are responsible for material checked out in their names. Overdue fines are charged to encourage prompt returns and to ensure access to the collections for other borrowers. No one may use another person's I.D. or library card to check out materials. It is the responsibility of each borrower to inform the Library of a change of mailing address, telephone number, or e-mail address.
Borrowers should inform the Library if their I.D. cards or library cards are lost or stolen. It is the responsibility of the borrower to note the time or date that material is due.
- Lost or Damaged Materials are charged at cost of the restoration plus Baht 100.00 processing fee.
- Lost or damaged beyond repair materials are charged at list price plus Baht 100.00 processing fee. If the list price is not available, Baht 400.00 is charged for Thai materials and Baht 3,000.00 for foreign materials plus Baht 100.00 processing fee.
- Lost library materials must be reported immediately. For patrons who are liable to overdue fines, such fine will be calculated from the date due to the date when the materials are reported lost.
- Fees and other charges for lost or damaged library materials are the responsibility of the person who returns them. The patron will be required to replace the same title or material that is lost, or to provide a suitable substitute as approved by the librarian-in-charge. This must be done within the period stipulated by the librarian-in-charge.
- Long overdue library materials or a total of unpaid charges over Baht 50.00 will result in suspension of library borrowing privileges. Students who do not clear their records will not receive grades, transcripts, or diploma, and will not be able to register or to graduate.
Reservations
- A book already on loan to another user may be reserved.
- The user will be notified by the Central Library of books ready for collection.
- The book will be kept for three days from the date of notification. If it is not collected by the stipulated date the reservation will be canceled.
- Each user may reserve a maximum of three books.
- All reserved books must be reserved personally.
- Reservations by telephone and e-mail will not be accepted.
Reserves Materials
Reserves are materials with a short loan period, placed on reserve shelves in the Human Rights Resource Center at the request of instructors for use of Human Rights Program students.
