13 June 2011, CHRSD has welcomed new students for MA and PhD International Programs. This year, there are students from many countries such as Turkey, Maldives, Bhutan and Vietnam.

After warm welcome remark from Dr. Sriprapha Petcharamesree, students got so much documents and explanation from academic matters (i.e. academic calendar, thesis and graduation requirements) to facilities and services like visa process and health insurance. Some students from last batch were here as well to share their experiences and answered their concerned questions. In the afternoon, students get a short tour on the campus tram.

Next day, Yanuar Sumarlan together with other lecturers have organized academic skill class for two days to prepare students for academic training.  They get introduced to effective method of reading journal texts, how to take note efficiently, how to build effective sentences, and how to summarize a paper into PowerPoint slide and present it. Although the training given is only very basic technique, but it is very important skill before they join the class.  It was also a great way for us to get to know each other” said Mark Capaldi, one of PhD Program students from UK after the class, “ and there is already a nice team spirit developing! Many thanks also to the support team who made us feel so welcome at the Centre.”
